1. Agreement

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of the PriceBee website, API and browser extension (together, the “Service”). By using the Service you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. Provider information (ECTA section 43 disclosures)

The following information is provided in terms of section 43 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 (“ECTA”):

  • Full legal / operating name: PriceBee
  • Website: pricebee.co.za
  • Email contact: support@pricebee.co.za
  • Description of services: online price comparison across South African retailers (products), cars (sourced from Gumtree listings) and property (sourced from Property24 listings), including price history, price alerts, Honey Scores/deal scores, a browser extension and, on the Business plan, API access.
  • Pricing: Free plan — R0; Pro plan — R49 per month; Business plan — R499 per month. All prices are in South African Rand (ZAR) and are payable via PayFast. Current plan features are listed on the Pricing page.
  • Payment mechanism: subscriptions are processed by PayFast (payfast.co.za). PriceBee does not store card details.
  • Cooling-off: where section 44 of ECTA applies, you may cancel an electronic transaction without reason or penalty within 7 days after the date of conclusion of the agreement, by emailing support@pricebee.co.za. If you cancel within the cooling-off period, we will refund any payment within 30 days. The cooling-off right does not apply to the exceptions listed in section 42(2) of ECTA.

3. Nature of the Service — important CPA notices

In line with the fair-dealing provisions of the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (“CPA”), please note:

  • PriceBee is not the seller. We are a comparison and information service. All purchases are concluded directly with the third-party retailer, dealer or seller on their own site, on their own terms.
  • Prices and availability are indicative.Prices, stock availability, specifications and images are sourced from third-party retailers and listing sites and may be delayed, incomplete or out of date. Always confirm the final price and availability on the retailer's site before purchasing. We give no warranty as to the accuracy of any price or listing shown.
  • Links go to retailer sites. Following a link takes you to a third-party site over which we have no control and for which we accept no responsibility.
  • Honey Scores and deal scores are opinions. Honey Scores, deal scores, price-drop predictions, car market-value estimates and property value indicators are automated opinions and estimates only. They are not financial, investment or professional advice — in particular for cars and property, where you should always obtain your own inspection, valuation and professional advice before transacting.

4. Accounts

You must provide accurate information when registering and keep your credentials confidential. You are responsible for activity under your account. You must be at least 18 years old (or have the consent of a parent/guardian) to create an account.

5. Subscriptions, billing and cancellation

  • Paid plans (Pro R49/month, Business R499/month) are billed monthly in advance via PayFast as a recurring subscription.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically each month until cancelled.
  • You may cancel at any time from your account settings or by emailing support@pricebee.co.za. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you keep paid features until then. Except for the ECTA cooling-off right in section 2, fees already paid are not refunded for partial months.
  • We may change plan prices or features on reasonable notice (at least one billing cycle); if you do not accept a price change you may cancel before it takes effect.
  • If a recurring payment fails, we may downgrade your account to the Free plan after reasonable attempts to collect payment.

6. Acceptable use

You may not:

  • scrape, crawl, harvest or bulk-download data from the Service or the API other than through the documented API on a plan that includes API access;
  • circumvent, exceed or attempt to circumvent rate limits, plan quotas (including product-submission quotas) or access controls;
  • resell, sublicense or redistribute Service data without our written permission;
  • submit unlawful, misleading or malicious content or product links, or interfere with the operation or security of the Service;
  • use the Service to infringe any third party's rights or any applicable law.

API access on the Business plan is subject to the published rate limits and fair-use rules. We may throttle, suspend or revoke API keys that are abused.

7. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your account (with notice where reasonably possible) if you materially breach these Terms, abuse the Service, or where we are required to do so by law. You may close your account at any time. On termination, your right to use paid features ends; clauses which by their nature survive (including sections 3, 8, 9 and 10) continue to apply. Deletion of personal information on account closure is handled as described in the Privacy Policy.

8. Intellectual property

The Service, including the PriceBee name, logo, software, Honey Score methodology and compiled datasets, is owned by or licensed to PriceBee. Product names, images and trademarks of third-party retailers remain the property of their respective owners and are used for identification and comparison purposes only.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law (including the CPA where it applies), the Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. PriceBee is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, loss of profits, or loss arising from (a) reliance on any price, listing, score or estimate shown on the Service, (b) any transaction you conclude with a third-party retailer, dealer or seller, or (c) interruption or unavailability of the Service. Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid to PriceBee in the 12 months preceding the claim. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, or limits your statutory rights under the CPA.

10. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, and you consent to the jurisdiction of the South African courts. Nothing prevents you from approaching the National Consumer Commission, the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud, or the Information Regulator where applicable.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The effective date above reflects the latest version, and material changes will be notified on the site or by email. Continued use of the Service after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
